«Ho fatto un'indagine nel basso Lazio. Si era spostato a Cassino un gruppo della famiglia Venosa che aveva cominciato a fare estorsioni agli imprenditori della zona e stava trasferendo attività illecite ed affiliate nel contesto del cassinate. Verificammo che anche lì c'erano fenomeni di omertà, trovammo grandissime difficoltà a parlare con gli imprenditore. E fu grazie alla brillante attività della squadra mobile di Frosinone che si riuscì ad individuare questo gruppo, ad arrestarlie poi farli condannare».
Cosa si può fare per contrastare questo fenomeno?
«Si deve tenere la guardia particolarmente alta soprattutto quando i fenomeni diventato noti grazie ad un lavoro come questo dell'Osservatorio: nessuno può dire non lo sapevoo non me n'ero accorto. L'infiltrazione va combattuta prima di tutto attraverso l'attività giudiziaria ma anche creando grande attenzione degli enti pubblici che devono vigilare quando danno gli appalti o durante i passaggi di proprietà di aziende»

L'associazione culturale Peppino Impastato di Cassino è un'organizzazione formata prevalentemente dai giovani. E' un'associazione apartitica che prosegue idealmente l'attività svolta dall'associazione "Musica e Cultura" fondata a Cinisi (PA) da Peppino Impastato. Cassino, come tante altre realtà del centro-sud Italia, è afflitta da problemi quali criminalità, clientilismo, omertà, corruzione ed una realtà politico-economico-sociale stagnate. Come associazione giovanile, non pretendiamo di risolvere questi problemi, ma cerchiamo di affrontarli e denunciarli, dato che ogni cambiamento parte da una presa di coscienza. Tale coscienza, cerchiamo di formarla attraverso una serie di iniziative, quali stand informativi, cineforum, denuncia sociale, convegni e serate per giovani. Nel corso degli ultimi anni abbiamo ospitato all'interno dei nostri convegni e cineforum numerose persone che portano avanti le stesse noistre idee con la nostra stessa passione; Abbiamo avuto la fortuna ed il piacere di ospitare qui a Cassino Giovanni Impastato, fratello minore di Peppino.
